As many of you know, I recently became a part of the sisterhood Delta Zeta. This has been one of the greatest decisions of my college career. I've met so many great girls, some of whom I know I'll be friends with for a lifetime. Delta Zeta means sisterhood, friendship, loyalty, and so many other things, but the word I'm going to use now is philanthropy.
Turtle Tug is one of our big events designed to raise money for our charities as well as draw in the community to help us support our cause. So what is Turtle Tug?
Does this explain it a little bit? Well for those of you I've left even more in the dark, Turtle Tug is a tug-of-war competition over, you guessed it, a pit of Jello. {If you'd love to participate, and really who wouldn't, I'll attach the team sign up form at the bottom}. It's $10/person on an 8-person team, and don't worry if a member doesn't show, we'll climb in and pull right along with you! The competition is on April 7th at 2 p.m. on Strom fields.
This money goes towards a great cause. Actually, it goes to numerous causes. Locally, we support a special abilities class at Brennan Elementary school. My sisters and I have the opportunity to spend our time with these students, grades 3 through 5, who exhibit varying degrees of hearing impairments.
Nationally, Delta Zeta donates proceeds go to the Painted Turtle Camp, Gallaudet University, and The Ear House Institute. Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. is the only four-year liberal arts school in the world devoted to the needs, instrution and training of young people who are deaf. The House Ear Institute is one of the world's foremost research, teaching, and treatment centers in the field of hearing. The Painted Turtle Camp is a Hole in
the Wall Camp for seriously ill children. We further support this cause by sending sisters to serve as councilors during the summer.
We also ask each of our sisters to make a contribution to this cause. And what better way for friends and family that I know would love to attend the event, but can't make it, to support me by helping me support this cause. We have a goal to raise $30,000 with half being sent to our national philanthropies and half going to our local cause. This donation would mean so much to me and those whose lives will be affected by your donation. I will be grateful
if you can help out in any way. Make
checks payable to Delta Zeta with my name in the memo and send them to:

Please don’t feel obligated to donate. Just informing you of how my sisters and I
help our community, and more, is one step to bringing attention to speech and
hearing organizations. Let me know if
you need any additional information. If
you have any specific questions that you need answered please contact Kelsey
Rolwood or Kaitlyn Dunphy, Philanthropy Chairs, at (908) 723-4195 or (864)
363-5348 or at dzturtletug13@gmail.com.

Alright and you'll have to email me if you'd like to register a team too! I thought maybe I could somehow upload a link to the form on here and I just can't figure it out. So please email me with any questions or requests. I'd love to hear from all of you!
